Write my book

The guide

A launch sequence fits in five emails. The first announces the book, the second tells why you wrote it, the third shows what's inside, the fourth answers a common question or shares a review, the last one kicks things off. Each email has a single goal: one idea, one link, one call to action.

Write short, concrete subject lines. A reader opens an email because they expect something useful or moving: promise it in the subject line, then deliver it in the body. Avoid capital letters and repeated exclamation marks, which scare off spam filters and readers.

The most common mistake is talking only about yourself. Each email should answer a question your reader is asking: "Is this for me?", "What do I get out of it?", "Can I trust this person?" Never promise a result your book can't deliver.

Frequently asked questions

How many emails should you send to launch a book?

Five emails are enough over two to three weeks. Too many emails wear out your list, especially if you only talk about yourself.

When should you send the launch sequence?

Start one to two weeks before release, and keep the last email for launch day. Send them early in the week, in the morning, when people read their messages.

Can I send these emails to anyone?

No. Only write to people who signed up to your list and agreed to receive your messages. It's a legal requirement and it also protects your reputation.
